The CrossFit Open Starts This Week! — What you need to know
The 2022 CrossFit Open starts this week, with the announcement of Workout 22.1 on Thursday, February 24th.
For many involved in CrossFit (or “functional fitness,” or whatever you want to call it), the Open is the culmination of a years worth of training, and an opportunity to test oneself against several hundred thousand others in a series of 3 workouts over 3 weeks. If this sounds like something that might interest you, here are the details for this year's event:
Starting this Thursday (2/24), a workout will be released each week, and must be completed, and score submitted, by the following Monday at 8pm EST. There are a ton of divisions, including age groups, rankings by occupation and state, as well as the option to complete workouts as prescribed "RX," “Scaled,” or “Foundations” (If you want to get a sense of what these workouts and levels entail, check out last year’s workouts by clicking here.)
Full Range will again be holding our weekly "Friday Night Lights" events, during which anyone signed up for the Open will be able to complete the workout in a heat, have a judge, and have their score verified though us. If you can't make it on Friday night, but still want to submit a score, you can arrange for someone to judge you at some point between Friday and Monday.
To register for the Open, simply head to open.crossfit.com, and follow the instructions. When asked what affiliate you train at put “Unaffiliated.” Once you get to your competition dashboard, you can add the hashtag #fullrangefitness, and you’ll be included on our leaderboard. PLEASE ALSO ADD YOUR NAME TO OUR GOOGLE SHEET, so that we can keep track of who’s participating!
Unsure if the Open is right for you? Check out this post from a few years back, or please reach out to Adam about whether or not you should give it a go.
And, of course, all are welcome to come to our Friday Night Lights each week and support their fellow Full Rangers!
