The CrossFit Open is Back -- What You Need to Know
The 2020 CrossFit Open starts this week, with the announcement of Workout 20.1 on Thursday, October 10th, at 8pm EST.If you feel like the Open has come around quickly this year, that's because it has: with the changes implemented during the 2019 CrossFit Games season, the Open now takes place in October (instead of February), and thus this year gets a double-dose of the worldwide online competition. For many involved in CrossFit, the Open is the culmination of a years worth of training, and an opportunity to test oneself against several hundred thousand others in a series of 5 workouts over 5 weeks. If this sounds like something that might interest you, here are the details for this year's event:
- Starting this Thursday (10/10), a workout will be released each week, and must be completed, and score submitted, by the following Monday at 8pm EST. There are a ton of divisions, including age groups, rankings by occupation and state, as well as the option to complete workouts as prescribed "RX," or Scaled.
- Full Range will again be holding our weekly "Friday Night Lights" events, during which anyone signed up for the Open will be able to complete the workout in a heat, have a judge, and have their score verified through our affiliate. If you can't make it on Friday night, but still want to submit a score, you can arrange for someone to judge you at some point between Friday and Monday.
- To register for the Open, simply head to open.crossfit.com, and follow the instructions. When asked what affiliate you train at, type in "Full Range," and the option should pop up to join our crew!
Unsure if the Open is right for you? Check out this post from last year, or please reach out to Adam, Alecia, or Jake about whether or not you should give it a go.And, of course, all are welcome to come to our Friday Night Lights each week and support their fellow Full Rangers!
